AGARTALA, FEB 20 (PTI)

Tripura government has imposed ban on importing eggs and chicks from outside the state and has taken adequate preventive measures in the wake of outbreak of avian flu cases in Navapur in Maharashtra.

The decision was taken at a high level meeting of Animal Resource Development (ARD) department officials last night presided over by the ARD Minister Parnab Debbarma last night.

All precautionary measrues have been taken under the directive of the state's ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Debbarma told reporters today.

A special task force comprising specialists from health and ARD has been constituted, he said adding that no case of infection of bird flu was reported so far.
