Tracking: Suspect - Misdiagnosed - H1N1 Induced Infections... Uncounted Swine Flu Deaths and Cases

pflu

Well-known member
The goal of this thread is to track new swine flu deaths and cases which are under reported due to misdiagnosis, secondary infections, or purposeful misdirection.

Some diseases such as MSRA (superbug), Meningitis, bacteria infections, and many forms of pneumonia are commonly triggered by influenza. Nearly half of this years pediatric influenza deaths had MSRA coinfections. The symptoms of meningitis, especially when it's streptococcus pneumoniaea induced are nearly identical to novel H1N1 flu symptoms. An unusual outbreak of meningitis started early this year and some of these cases may be the result of misdiagnosis combined with legitimate meningitis, pneumonia, or MSRA triggered by Novel H1N1.

http://www.findingdulcinea.com/news...es-Crop-Up-in-Schools-Around-the-Country.html

I've been saving most of the links and info on these cases which are easily confused and H1N1 induced since swine flu broke in April. I recently started noticing geographic clusters for the 2009 reported incidents which are unique compared to previous years. My hope is contributions to this thread will help shed additional light on the current situation and possibly relveal the origins of the virus.

Google Map of Cases

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=U...315125,-92.285156&spn=55.138595,81.298828&z=4

NOTE: My criteria for inclusion is a clusters of 3 or more cases in one geographic location. While clusters exist in previous years they seem to pale in comparison to the 2009 outbreaks. I have included clusters from fall 2008 through the current reporting date, most cases occurred during February and March of 2009 which is typical for meningitis as it seems to follow seasonal flu patterns.

Re: Tracking: Suspect - Misdiagnosed - H1N1 Induced Infections... Uncounted Swine Flu Deaths and Cases

Impressive work!

I asked myself several times in the past about possible link between influenza epidemics (both seasonal and pandemic) and other unexplained concurrent outbreaks of meningitis (by meningococcus).

Last year, in Italy, an unusual outbreak of meningococcal meningitis hit northern regions, with several young patients and severe cases.

The pathogen was isolated and characterized as hypervirulent.

For this purpose I invite you to see into Scientific Library Forum the relevant Eurosurveillance articles about above incident. (http://www.flutrackers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=99999)

Briefly after this outbreak, in Italy started the influenza season with predominance of H1N1-oseltamivir resistant virus circulation.

The goal of this thread is to track new swine flu deaths and cases which are under reported due to misdiagnosis, secondary infections, or purposeful misdirection.

1st - Excellent work.
2nd - Do I understand correctly that all of these represent cases that are NOT currently identified as officially H1N1 related?

Re: Tracking: Suspect - Misdiagnosed - H1N1 Induced Infections... Uncounted Swine Flu Deaths and Cases

Great work. I've been reading through dozens of news stories a day trying to glean useful information. I know that was hard work. Thanks.

I wonder if any samples were taken from those patients that are still being held in the lab that could now be tested for novel H1N1. Would the CDC be looking into this?

1: Thanks :)

2: Yes, none of these case are identified or officially suspected as H1N1.

Re: Tracking: Suspect - Misdiagnosed - H1N1 Induced Infections... Uncounted Swine Flu Deaths and Cases

Pflu,

Great work!!! I know the question has been asked if these cases had been listed as H1N1 and your answer was no. My question/issue is somewhat different is in reviewing the weekly archives have you compared the deaths with those that subsequently tested positive for MRSA.

Why I ask this is because early on in an attempt to try to locate the earliest deaths that could likely have been from the 2009 A/H1N1 and found an article on the 19 year WV girl in February at that point I began to look at the weekly archives of pediatric deaths can easily have a 4 to 6 week lag time and lo and behold I found recorded of a 19 Y.O. Girl who died in WV in February was confirmed to have MRSA.

One other think that I have noticed in reports from the world health agencies and independent scientist who have reported that one of the most surprising aspects in the H1N1 hospitalizations and deaths was the secondary infections were viral and not bacterial for which they have no scientific explanation. One explanation that they have only recently began discussing that the only other time has this scenario been documented widely with influenza was 1918 and add this to ages of those most affected, the spread, that as viral spread begins to approach critical mass in certain areas the number of hospitalizations and deaths in these ares begin increase dramatically, the early proclamations of mildness (the British in 1918 declared that the virus was so mild it was not a threat to soldiers and continuing the battles of WWI) and we all know what the MSM and Official have been saying today only to call the end of the epidemic well before it even began. All of these combined certainly are showing how little man learns or cares to remember from history, including most of those who are in charge of making the important decisions which is not just to use words but take the necessary action as could have been done by late-April. This least me to believe that the truth is even if 2009 A/H1N1 does not turn out to be "the repeat of 1918" or worse there are other variants waiting in the wings which will and does anyone really believe the official response will be any different, I for one certainly don't.

Sorry all for my ramblings once again and to PFlu if you have the time keep looking for clues in death reporting and obits, as will I and hopefully also many others, as I have previously stated that as the numbers begin to add up and continue to slightly exceed those of seasonal flu, H1N1 death report will likely slow to a trickle or stop completely as has been seen with H5N1. At least until the the numbers get close to or exceed Asian or Hong Kong Flus and when this happens panic will reign since those who have not kept up will not know or be prepared for this shock.

Re: Tracking: Suspect - Misdiagnosed - H1N1 Induced Infections... Uncounted Swine Flu Deaths and Cases

In the XXI century we have:

-- a population in developed nations with an overall older age then in 1918;
-- a great number of people with cancer (perhaps millions);
-- a variable portion of HIV/+ infected people;
-- overcrowded communities

We have to put some tiles into their respective position.

If one assumes that in developed nations, and notably in US, we have a novel H1N1 virus with a R0 around 2.5 who is circulating from at least two months (from april 2009), how many people could have already be infected?

And - since the prevalence among population of both cancer and HIV/+ people - how many chances we have to see these patients with H1N1v too?

Is it possible to make a calculation?

It is important, I think. Because a pathogen with a 1918-spanishflu-like case-fatality rate would have caused an excess mortality among immunocompromized patients (such as those with cancer and HIV): a patient with methastasis has multiple organ failures, some infections, and even those under chemotherapy have a lot of problem and low immunity even toward common pathogens.

I think a targeted surveillance in high-risk group - with an overall age under 50 year old - should return some important clues about current H1N1v epidemic.

Cancer probably was no so common in early '900 and perhaps less common in young people (in their 40) as in our days.

Re: Tracking: Suspect - Misdiagnosed - H1N1 Induced Infections... Uncounted Swine Flu Deaths and Cases

New Goggle Map of Cases

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=U...315125,-92.285156&spn=55.138595,81.298828&z=4

* Notable or likely H1N1 due to geographic significance, case details, etc...
N Mapped reference number.

Do you mean compare them with H1N1 confirmed deaths with MRSA?

If so, I'm not sure there is even any data out there on that, they are keeping details like that under lock and key. There are a handful of MRSA deaths included in the cases.

Do you still have the details on the 19 year old WV student stating she had MRSA? All I found was that she died of Bacterial Meningitis, double whammy if she had MRSA on top of that.
