(Togo Official) - Cases of meningitis have been detected in the Kara region, more precisely in the Dankpen district, the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene announced on Wednesday, January 15. While investigations are underway to find other cases with a view to their care, immediate measures have been taken.
These include strengthening early detection, organizing case management in health facilities, and raising awareness among the population about preventive measures. Faced with this situation, the ministry has called on the population to be vigilant and adopt key behaviors: protecting the nose and mouth against dust, washing hands regularly with soap and water, and adhering to routine vaccination under the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), among others.
As a reminder, meningitis is a serious contagious disease that can be caused by several germs. It manifests itself by a sudden onset of high fever, headaches, or vomiting.
