Viral pneumonia in the endemic phase

06/09/2020

According to the scientific council, the coronavirus pandemic in Togo is now in the endemic phase.

This term designates the usual presence of a disease in a specific region or population.

"We must now live with the disease with a few peaks until a vaccine or treatment is found," said Professor Mounirou Salou, virologist and board member, on Tuesday.

However, the country is not out of the woods. The doctor recommends that the population respect the barrier measures.

Faced with a rather favorable development, the government has decided to lift the health curfew and the closure of cities. However, the air and land borders remain closed.

Togo currently registers 497 confirmed cases and 13 deaths.
