Toddler is eighth swine flu death in Palm Beach County

A 3-year old girl who died this month was confirmed today as Palm Beach County's eighth swine flu victim.
The child had an underlying illness, but the Palm Beach County Health Department did not immediately identify it.


To date, 78 Palm Beach County residents have been hospitalized with the swine flu virus and 32 of them were admitted to intensive care units, according to the health department.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- A Lake Worth family mourning the death of a 3-year-old girl who died from the H1N1 virus said she caught it in a hospital.

Vaccines Available Locally


There are a few vaccination clinics in the Treasure Coast area this week.

On Wednesday, stop by the Martin County Health Department in Stuart from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On Saturday, the Stuart Fire Rescue Department is offering vaccinations from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

LAKE WORTH, Fla. -- Friends and family of a 3-year-old girl who succumbed to the H1N1 virus honored her bravery and life over the weekend.
Jocelyn Davis was just about to beat leukemia when she was struck by the swine flu.

“She contracted it in the hospital,” Karine said through gritted teeth and teary eyes. “Wouldn’t it be ironic if we found out one of the doctors or nurses who were there to save her, killed her?”
