Outbreak of pneumovirus leads to euthanization of 20 dogs at Memphis shelter

Twenty dogs at the Memphis Animal Shelter were euthanized on Tuesday due to an outbreak of pneumovirus, a relatively new condition in dogs.

Memphis Animal Services medical director Dr. Rebecca Coleman said that while the airborne pneumovirus is treatable, there was no place to isolate 20 dogs.

"We had to euthanize because we did not have a place to put them," Coleman said today...
