Five die due to viral fever, diarrhoea in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad: Four children were among five persons who died due to viral fever and diarrhoea in rural belt of the district, an official said here.

In Loni town, a 12-year-old boy Ravi, resident of Gulab Batika, died due to diarrhoea last evening in a hospital even as a dozen others were admitted due to the disease.

In Garhmukteshwar area in village Inayatpur, two girls Savitri and Shabnam, aged about 8 and 10 years, died due to viral fever.


In a separate case, 18-year-old Satpal of Mohmmadpur village died in a hospital due to high fever.

Around 20 other people have been admitted to various hospitals after they complained of high fever.


"All the deaths are due to viral fever or diarrhoea but there is nothing to worry. Adequate medicines are stored at hospitals and primary health centres. Medical staff have also been rushed to affected villages to control the situation," Chief Medical Officer A K Dhawan said, adding mobile teams of doctors have also been pressed into service in the district.

Seven persons, including five children, have died after drinking contaminated water in Manki village near Modinagar in past 10 days, health officials said today.


Asgar Ali, 56, and eight-year-old Shifa died of high fever yesterday.


Amrin, 26, who was pregnant, died this Wednesday in a Delhi hospital where she was undergoing treatment.


Two deaths each have been reported on Sunday and Monday, they said.


Chief medical officer AK Dhawan, who visited the village, attributed the deaths to jaundice, diarrhoea and high fever caused after drinking contaminated water.


As many as 80 more people were suffering from high fever, according to villagers. A team of doctors has been stationed in Manki for their treatment, they said.

Ghaziabad, Aug 28 (PTI) Three more persons died of viral fever and jaundice taking the total number of deaths due to the water-borne diseases in Manki village and Kalchhina near Modinagar to ten, health officials said today. Vansh, a-year-old died yesterday after having high fever for five days. In Kalchhina village, two persons, including a child, Yamin died of jaundice and fever respectively. District Magistrate Hredesh Kumar yesterday visited the affected villages and met the ailing persons alongwith chief medical officer A H Dhawan and other health officers. The DM ordered to clean the water logging pits and pools in villages where contaminated water is logged and used by the villagers. About 200 persons have reported sick in both the villages with fever, diarrhoea and jaundice, they said. The DM also ordered to attach the affected villages with Muradnagar primary health centre for providing regular medical check up. Ghaziabad, Aug 30 (PTI) With the death of one more person, the toll after drinking contaminated water in two villages near Modinagar has risen to 11, officials said today. Hanif, 58, died of high fever last night in Kalchhins village, taking the number of deceased there to five. Seven persons have died in Maanki village in past 13 days, prompting District Magistrate Hredesh Kumar to visit the area twice with Chief Medical Officer A K Dhawan. A team of over 12 doctors has been stationed there to attend to nearly 200 ailing villagers suffering from high fever, jaundice and diarrhoea caused by drinking contaminated water, health officials said.

Another person dies of water-borne disease, toll rises to 14

Ghaziabad, Sep 3 (PTI) With the death of a 14-year-old, the toll due to water-borne diseases in the district has risen to 14 in a fortnight, officials said.
Rinki, a resident of Galand village, died here after having high fever for the past couple of days.
Dengue, chicken pox, malaria and viral fever have become an epidemic in Manki and Kalchhina villages near here, they said.
Over a dozen cases of chicken pox have been traced in Tyodhi village where patients had to protest for medicines and treatment yesterday when the staff closed the hospital before noon.
Earlier, one case of swine flu was also reported in Kalchhina village. The victim later died in a Delhi hospital.
Kaka (20), a resident of Samir Vihar colony in Modinagar, died of Dengue.
District Magistrate Hredesh Kumar has directed the Chief Medical Officer to rush up all the medical staff and medicines in the affected villages.

Seven more deaths due to dengue and viral fever

Seven persons, including a three-year-old girl, died due to dengue and viral fever in the district, private hospital sources said. In Massoorie, Atma (17) died of dengue, while Hira Lal, (26) also succumbed to the vector-borne decease. Three-year-old Sani also died at a local hospital because of
viral fever.

In rural belt of the district, four deaths were reported, including three from Tyodhi village.

Four persons die of dengue in Uttar Pradesh

Four persons, including three women, died due to dengue in Ghaziabad district, private hospital sources said here today.


Hasina, 25, who had been undergoing treatment in a private hospital for the past four days, died due to dengue yesterday, they said.


The other victims who died due to the vector-borne disease are Shimla, 25, Bharti, 25, and Bhaskar, 21, they said.


Meanwhile, new cases of dengue have been reported from Garhmukteshwar, Dhaulana and Modinagar.
