Three flu-related deaths have occurred among people living in Nashville and its surrounding counties this season as hospitalizations approach 350.
The ages of the those who died are 8 months, 11 years and 80 years, said Dr. William Schaffner, a Vanderbilt University infectious disease professor who tracks laboratory-confirmed cases in Nashville and neighboring counties as part of a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The Tennessee Department of Health, which tracks only pediatric deaths and deaths of pregnant women from complications of the flu, is reporting three deaths among children statewide...
