Three times as many seniors have died of the flu this year compared to last year, and the number of outbreaks has quadrupled ? and the season is far from over.

Last year, seven flu outbreaks were declared at area homes ? this year that number jumped to 31.

"We track flu-related deaths in those long-term care homes and last year we had six. This year we're up to 18, so that's a pretty significant number," explained Lora Piccinin, manager of infectious disease control at the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit...
