Jose Angel Cordova Villalobos, Health Secretary did not rule out the possibility that the country could be more cases of mutation of the influenza virus A H1N1 resistance to oseltamivir.
The official confirmed the first case of a 10-months old when the influenza A virus H1N1 mutated and became resistant.
He explained that this is the first 423 cases of suspected mutation has been found positive, representing a low rate.
He indicated that there may be between 15 to 20 cases of this type of mutation in the world.
Jose Angel Cordova said the virus could mutate at any time and cause serious problems. Hence the importance that people be vaccinated. He recalled that to reduce the chances of resistance to oseltamivir, zanamivir is applied, the second-line treatment against H1N1 A.
