The first 650 thousand vaccines against influenza A H1N1 arrive in the country today to apply to the most vulnerable people acquiring the disease.
Health Secretary Jose Angel Cordova Villalobos, said the vaccine to be applied here is the same as that used in the U.S.. "It is reliable and meets the required tests in the world," the official said.
The doses will be distributed to 31 states and the Federal District, whose governments have already developed a list of candidates who will apply immediately. Initially receive only health personnel and pregnant women.
The application will be voluntary, the federal official said.
The government of Mexico hopes to receive 30 million doses in several batches, between now and March 2010.
The Federal Commission for Protection Against Health Risks (Cofepris) said that, by procedure, the vaccines will be subject to analysis and study of safety and efficiency, as the rule.
We have detected that the reactions are minimal, as some allergies and bruising in the area of application, but do not endanger the lives of those who receive it, said the head of the commission, Miguel Angel Toscano.
To detect any abnormality, Cofepris tracked the reactions that can generate the vaccine. Immunization and used in countries such as Spain or the United States.
