The Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health today (October 18) is closely monitoring a new case of human infection with avian influenza A (H5N6) in the Mainland, and once again urged the public to keep personal and food at all times regardless of whether they are travelling locally or during their travels. And environmental sanitation.
  
  The case involved a 60-year-old woman living in Changde City, Hunan Province. She is a farmer and has been in contact with sick and dead poultry. She developed symptoms on October 3 and was admitted to hospital on October 13 in critical condition.

   Since 2014, the Mainland health authorities have notified a total of 48 human cases of avian influenza A (H5N6) infection.

A spokesperson for the Centre for Health Protection said: "All new influenza A, including H5N6, are notifiable infectious diseases in Hong Kong."...
