Kindergartens warned
HEALTH :The Communicable Disease Control Department yesterday warned Bangkok kindergarten schools about possible outbreaks of hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD), which normally spreads in the wet season.
Kamnuan Ungchusak, the director of the bureau of epidemiology, issued the warning after a school in the Phra Khanong area was closed for five days from Monday after two three-year-old kindergarten students developed HFMD-like symptoms.
Dr Kamnuan suggested school operators disinfect school facilities twice a day and prohibit students from sharing personal utilities. Pupils under five years old are the most vulnerable group and should stay at home if they develop high fever, a rash and blisters on their hands, feet and mouth.
