NAKHON RATCHASIMA: A dengue outbreak in the lower Northeast has led to 488 infections being recorded since the beginning of this year, most of them children, the Office of Disease Prevention and Control reported on Wednesday.

The region 9 office said the 488 infections were reported in four provinces - 233 cases in Nakhon Ratchasima, 56 in Buri Ram, 64 in Chaiyaphum and 135 in Surin. No dengue-related fatalities were reported.

Most of the infections were in children aged 10-14 years, with 5-9 year-olds the next largest group...

PHUKET: Phuket still has the highest per capital infection rate of dengue fever in the country a report issued by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) yesterday (June 5) has confirmed.

From January 1- June 5 this year, 357 people in Phuket had been confirmed by local hospitals as contracting dengue, the same figure revealed in a report posted on the Department of Disease Control DDC website also yesterday (See report here.).

However, the report also confirms that the island?s death rate from dengue remains at two.

BANGKOK, June 20 (Xinhua) -- A total of 19,804 people have been reportedly infected by dengue, 21 of whom were dead from Jan. 1 until June 12 this year in Thailand, said a senior government official on Wednesday.

Dengue infections rise during rainy season

A total of 3,301 new cases of dengue fever were reported nationwide during the past week, the Disease Control Department chief said on Friday.

Dr Suwannachai Watanayingcharoenchai said during the infection, the number of people infected with dengue was an average of 10,000 patients a month during the rainy season from June to September.

From January 1 to August 7, there were 41,094 cases of dengue and 48 patients died, the director general said.

He said in May the number of cases was 7,020 but it increased to 13,233 in June and 10,812 in July...

Thailand health officials report topping the 50,000 case mark with dengue fever in 2018.

According to the Bureau of Epidemiology, Ministry of Health, a total of 50,079 cases were reported from 77 provinces through Aug 27.

Areas of the country with the highest rates include Nakornpathom, Phichit, Maehongsorn, Phuket and Krabi.

In addition, 65 dengue-related fatalities were reported to date...

BANGKOK, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Thailand has recorded no foreign tourist's death from dengue fever this year, the country's health department said on Wednesday.

Ophas Karnkawinwong, spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Health, said there has been an obvious decline of dengue infection since August as health departments have stepped up their efforts to eradicate Aedes, agenus of mosquito which is known to carry the dangerous virus.

The spread of the disease caused 52,670 people to fall ill countrywide, with 5,899 cases among Bangkok residents, according to official figures taken between Jan. 7 and Sept. 8 this year.

Nationally, the number of deaths rose to 69, five of which were reported in Bangkok.

The numbers seem high, but when they are compared with last year's figures over the same period, the situation shows an improvement, said the spokesperson...
