Special Report: World Tackles Swine Flu

BANGKOK, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's embassy in Mexico reported to the Thai government that there was no Thai staying in Mexico had been infected with the swine flu, Thai Foreign Ministry's spokesman Tharit Charungvat said Tuesday.

The Thai embassy in Mexico reported to the Thai government after it contacted with 105 Thai, who had registered with the embassy, said Tharit in a press statement.

Thai in Mexico had been suggested to wear facial masks prior to leaving residences and not to go to crowded areas, said the Foreign Ministry's spokesman.

They were also advised to inform a new residential address to the embassy, if they changed their residential place. This was crucial in case of evacuation if the swine flu outbreak worsened, said Tharit.

The Thai embassy in Mexico was in the process of purchasing facial masks from hospitals in Mexico since the masks in markets there were in shortage, said the spokesman.

However, the Foreign Ministry was going to send some facial masks to the Thai embassy in Mexico for Thai, who could not purchase any facial mask in Mexico, said Tharit.
