AUSTIN (KXAN) - Twenty million Americans will take ill this year with the norovirus , a nasty gastroenteritis that causes vomiting, diarrhea and cramps.
...
At the Pavilion at Great Hills, a North Austin assisted-living facility, more than 40 people have come down with norovirus since last week. Five have been hospitalized for dehydration.

The Pavilion immediately notified the health department and began sanitizing its facility, particularly in common areas.

"Our clients are wearing masks if they come out of their apartments," said director Clara Hollis. "We largely encourage our residents to remain in their rooms, even if they're well, just as a precaution."

The Pavilion at Great Hills staff also canceled all group activities and is serving meals room to room. It is located at 11819 Pavilion Blvd.
