McALLEN, Texas (Border Report) — The number of cases of COVID-19 in two South Texas border counties dramatically spiked on Saturday night totaling five cases with the announcement of the first confirmed case in Hidalgo County and several in Cameron County, health officials said.

SAN ANTONIO – A woman in her 80s died at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio after she was infected with COVID-19, city and county officials confirmed in a news release.
The woman, who had a history of underlying health issues, died on Saturday. Her death marks the first fatal COVID-19 case in the city and Bexar County, and is among at least five others in the state. Nearly 50 cases of the new coronavirus have been reported in Bexar County by officials.

There are 24 new positive cases of coronavirus in Dallas County, bringing to the total number of cases to 155, county officials said Monday. Two deaths were reported.
The two were a Dallas man in his 60s who did not have other high-risk health problems and another Dallas man in his 60s who had high-risk chronic health conditions.
