City of El Paso confirms first case of Neuroinvasive West Nile Virus

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The City of El Paso’s Department of Public Health has confirmed the first case of Neuroinvasive West Nile Virus this year in the city.

The City says a man in his 80s who lives in the Upper Valley is currently hospitalized with a severe form of the virus that has affected his nervous system.

In 2024, El Paso reported two cases of Neuroinvasive West Nile Virus cases, one of which resulted in death, and the other person required hospitalization.​..

Denton County Public Health has reported the first human case of West Nile virus in the county this year. The unidentified resident was diagnosed with the more severe neuroinvasive form of the virus.

DCPH said the resident lives in the northwest quadrant of unincorporated Denton County but would not release further personal information.​..

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - The Wichita Falls-Wichita County Public Health District has confirmed the first human case of West Nile Virus (WNV) disease in Wichita County.

This would be the first human case in 2025 in Wichita County.

The City of Wichita Falls said this case is among 51 reported across Texas so far in 2025.​..
