Musira Island quarantined as mysterious disease hits Bukoba

Musira Island in Miembeni Ward in the Municipality of Bukoba has been placed under quarantine following the outbreak of unknown disease that has so far killed 12 goats and 516 chickens.

... hundreds of white and black birds known as ?Nyange Nyange,? recently invaded the area migrating from several nearby Islands of Lukolo, Katakubwa and Makibwa in Lake Victoria Archipelago.

According to Mr Polepole, goats and chicken that fed on droplets from the birds suspected to be poisonous died after a short period ranging between six to twelve hours.
