A 40-year-old woman from Tamil Nadu who tested positive for H1N1 last week died at a private hospital in Coimbatore Thursday morning.

COIMBATORE: A 64-year-old woman died of H1N1 virus at Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) on Tuesday morning. This is the fourth death in the district over the last three months. The public health department and CMCH has requested private hospitals in the district to stock up on Tamiflu tablets to treat their patients.

The deceased has been identified as R Saraswathi of Thudiyalur. She was suffering from fever for the last ten days and was admitted at CMCH on February 27. She was a diabetic and was suffering from skin infections.

"She was quarantined in a ward for H1N1 patients. She was suffering from diabetes and her health condition failed to improve. She died on Tuesday morning without responding to treatment," said A Edwin Joe, dean of CMCH.
