Taipei, Feb. 9 (CNA) Heath authorities have confirmed the first case in Taiwan this year of measles contracted overseas -- an eight-month-old girl who returned from China in early February.

The baby developed a rash and fever in late January during a trip to Hunan Province in China with her mother to visit relatives, said Chou Jih-haw, deputy director-general of the Department of Health's Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

When the child and mother returned to Taiwan Feb. 2, an alert was triggered on the airport's body temperature equipment and the baby was subsequently hospitalized and quarantined, Chou said...
