Epidemiological commentsSamples from Yunlin County were sent to the National Laboratory, Animal Health Research Institute (AHRI) for diagnosis. Highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N2 subtype was confirmed by AHRI. The infected farm has been placed under movement restriction. All animals on the infected farm have been culled. Thorough cleaning and disinfection have been conducted after stamping out operation. Surrounding poultry farms within 3 km radius of the sampling spot are under intensified surveillance for three months. Suspected signs were observed in poultry carcasses during post-mortem inspection in one abattoir in Taipei City. Samples were sent to the AHRI for diagnosis. H5N2 subtype HPAI was confirmed by the AHRI. The carcasses were destroyed and thorough cleaning and disinfection have been conducted in the abattoir. After tracing back to the farm of origin, any positive results will be included in follow-up

Epidemiological commentsSamples from Yunlin County were sent to the National Laboratory, Animal Health Research Institute (AHRI) for diagnosis. Highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N2 subtype was confirmed by AHRI. The infected farm has been placed under movement restriction. All animals on the infected farm have been culled. Thorough cleaning and disinfection have been conducted after stamping out operation. Surrounding poultry farms within 3 km radius of the infected farm are under intensified surveillance for three months.

Epidemiological commentsSamples from Yunlin County were sent to the National Laboratory, Animal Health Research Institute (AHRI) for diagnosis. Highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N2 subtype was confirmed by AHRI. The infected farms have been placed under movement restriction. All animals on the infected farms have been culled. Thorough cleaning and disinfection have been conducted after stamping out operation. The infected farms in Yunlin County were cleaned and disinfected. Surrounding poultry farms within 3 km radius of the infected farms are under intensified surveillance for three months. Suspected signs were observed in poultry carcasses during post-mortem inspection in one abattoir in Taipei City. Samples were sent to the AHRI for diagnosis. H5N2 subtype HPAI was confirmed by the AHRI. The carcasses were destroyed and thorough cleaning and disinfection have been conducted in the abattoir. After tracing back to the farm of origin, any positive results will be included in follow-up reports.

Epidemiological commentsSamples from Taichung City, Changhua County, Yunlin County were sent to the National Laboratory, Animal Health Research Institute (AHRI) for diagnosis. Highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N2 subtype was confirmed by AHRI. The infected farms have been placed under movement restriction. All animals on the infected farms have been culled. Thorough cleaning and disinfection have been conducted after stamping out operation. The infected farms in Taichung City, Changhua County, Yunlin County were cleaned and disinfected. Surrounding poultry farms within 3 km radius of the infected farms are under intensified surveillance for three months.

Epidemiological commentsSamples from Pingtung County were sent to the National Laboratory, Animal Health Research Institute (AHRI) for diagnosis. Highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N2 subtype was confirmed by AHRI. The infected farm has been placed under movement restriction. All animals on the infected farm have been culled. Thorough cleaning and disinfection have been conducted after stamping out operation. Surrounding poultry farms within 3 km radius of the infected farm are under intensified surveillance for three months. Suspected signs were observed in poultry carcasses during post-mortem inspection in the abattoir in Kaohsiung City. Samples were sent to the AHRI for diagnosis. H5N2 subtype HPAI was confirmed by the AHRI. The carcasses were destroyed and thorough cleaning and disinfection have been conducted in the abattoir. After tracing back to the farm of origin, any positive results will be included in follow-up reports.

Tainan layer farms infected with bird flu destroyed 8624 chickens and 560 kg eggs

A "Laying Hen Farm" in the salt water district of Tainan City recently reported an abnormal death of poultry. After being sent for inspection, it was diagnosed today that it was infected with H5N5 highly pathogenic avian influenza. 8624 laying hens and 560 kg of eggs were culled and shipped to the incinerator for destruction.


The Animal Protection Department also strengthened monitoring and sampling measures for the surrounding of the layer farm, and continued to send disinfection vehicles to strengthen the spray disinfection work of the poultry farm and surrounding roads, to reduce the amount of pathogens in the environment and prevent the occurrence of avian influenza.

...The Nanshi Animal Protection Department pointed out that there have been sporadic cases of avian influenza in the country, indicating that there are still avian influenza viruses in the environment. This year, there have been a total of 35 confirmed cases in Taiwan, and the number of recent cases in Tainan has increased. Almost 16,000 chickens culled due to avian flu

Taipei, April 25 (CNA) Nearly 16,000 chickens raised on a farm in Pingtung County, southern Taiwan, were culled Saturday after they were confirmed to be infected with the highly pathogenic H5N5 avian influenza virus, according to the Pingtung County Animal Disease Control Center.

The center said that a total of 15,826 chickens around six weeks old were culled on the farm in Yanpu Township.

Epidemiological commentsThe owner of chicken farm in Yunlin County reported to the Local Animal Disease Inspection Authority (LADIA) that chickens have abnormal mortality on 08 August 2020. H5N2 subtype HPAI was detected and confirmed by the Animal Health Research Institute (AHRI) on 12 August 2020. All animals on the infected farm have been culled. Thorough cleaning and disinfection have been conducted after stamping out operation. To prevent the outbreak of new HPAI case from spreading, surrounding poultry farms within a three-kilometer radius of the infected farm are under intensified surveillance. The LADIA also will conduct clinical investigation and sample all the 87 poultry farms within 3km radius of the infected farm.
