"Taiwan warns against underestimating H7N9 bird flu

Taipei City?s Renai Hospital said Friday that it had quarantined and was testing a man who showed some symptoms of the virus and whose father recently returned from China, even though his condition did not fully correspond to the official definition of risky cases.
The central health authorities said they received notifications about ten similar cases per day.
Taiwan has imposed a travel warning for six provinces and two cities in China, though not an outright ban. Travelers were warned to take protective measures and to maintain a high degree of caution when visiting the cities of Beijing and Shanghai and the provinces of Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan and Shandong. Jiangxi Province was added to the list Friday.
Chinese visitors from all over the communist country are also still allowed to visit Taiwan.
While May 1 is not a major holiday in Taiwan, in China the Labor Day celebrations are accompanied by a weeklong vacation period, which is expected to see more than 5,000 people a day crossing over to the island, reports said.
While the number of Taiwanese booking trips to the affected areas of China was reportedly falling fast, interest was rising for more remote parts of the huge country, such as Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia and Ningxia, reports said.
Travel in the other direction was still going strong, according to tour agencies and tourism officials.
The number of 5,000 Chinese arrivals a day during the Mayday week was based on tour groups alone and did not include individual travelers, reports said. Tourism sector data showed that the figure for the same period last year stood at about 5,800 arrivals a day.
Travel agencies said they would issue thermometers to tour guides, so if a member of a Chinese group felt feverish or uncomfortable, the guide could immediately monitor his temperature and help him seek medical assistance...".
