Swine flu toll climbs to 47 in Karnataka


Bangalore, Sep 9 (PTI)

With three more persons including a five year-old boy succumbing to swine flu, the toll due to the pandemic in Karnataka mounted to 47, health officials said today.

The boy and 40-year-old man had died in a private hospital in Bagalkot and a 36-year-old man in KIMS hospital, Hubli, on September one, six and seven respectively but reports confirming their H1N1 status were received only today, the officials said.

"In all the cases the patients came in late with suspected H1N1 symptoms," the officials said.

Meanwhile, thirty-five people tested positive for swine flu today, taking the number of confirmed cases to 654.

Throat swabs of 2,940 suspected cases have been tested till date, the officials said.
