The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) on Thursday said it has noticed a decrease in the swine flu virus this winter.

While the country is experiencing a high number of cases, they are relatively mild.

The institute said it has been alerted to severe cases mostly in pregnant women, asthmatics, diabetics and patients with pre-existing heart conditions.

It has also noted that few young patients are complaining of severe symptoms.

The NICD's Professor Lucille Bloomberg said, ?We have reached the peak of the season and in fact we are seeing a decrease??

The institute is again advising people to visit their doctors if they have any concerns.
