Swine flu-linked deaths in Scotland rise to 41

The vaccine for the virus is being targeted at priority groups
The number of deaths linked to swine flu in Scotland has risen to 41.

Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon said an adult from the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area, with an underlying health condition, died after contracting H1N1.

She said swine flu was a "mild illness" but people with underlying health conditions" were at "greater risk".

A vaccine programme is under way for vulnerable groups. Children aged six months to five years will be the next group to be offered the jab.

Seems the way Nicola Sturgeon repeats herself, all 41 people had underlying conditions, I find this unlikely.

Swine flu-linked deaths in Scotland rise to 43

The number of deaths linked to swine flu in Scotland has risen to 43.

One of the three most recent people to die after contracting H1N1 was an adult from Glasgow who had no underlying health problems.

Two other adults - one from Greater Glasgow and Clyde and the other from Highland - have also died after catching the virus.

Both of them had underlying health conditions, Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon said.

She said swine flu was generally a "mild illness" but people with underlying health conditions were at "greater risk", she said.

Has anybody here (in Scotland on here I mean ) been vaccinated yet ? My husband has diabetes and heart disease but hasn't yet been offered it.

I have not been vaccinated as I appear to be perfectly healty. I do know of numerous people in my area who have been to see the doctor to get the jab though. Most of which, have asthma.

Ok ta. I'm in the border hills and the only people I know who have had it work in the local hospital.
