The woman aged in her 20's from the state's north-west coast remains in a critical condition in the Royal Hobart Hospital's intensive care unit.

The Deputy Director of Public Health, Dr Chrissie Pickin, says the woman was not vaccinated against swine flu.

She says there are concerns for the baby as well as the mother.

"I think this case reminds us just how serious flu can be for anybody really but particularly for high-risk people such as pregnant women," she said.

The Department's website says people at risk of swine flu include pregnant women and people with a range of health conditions including obesity, asthma and some cancers.

It is Tasmania's third case of swine flu in a pregnant woman.
