Sun City West task force creating avian-flu plan

SUN CITIES, AZ - The Recreation Centers of Sun City West have formed
a task force to develop a bird-flu pandemic plan that could occur
only if the current strain of bird-flu virus mutates into a form
that can be easily transmitted from human to human.

The five-phase plan ranges from early planning that has already
begun, to a virtual shutdown of day-to-day operations.

Although the plan is still being fine-tuned, proposed steps include
providing residents and employees with information on how to protect
themselves from the flu.

The task force suggests that individuals do their part by planning
ahead to care for their families at home, including stockpiling
food, water and medicine and keeping up with news about the flu.
