Feb 19: 500,000 birds slaughtered.
European poultry consumption down: Italy - 70%; Greece -40%; France - 15%.
Romania reports birdflu outbreak in birds in 33 locations.
Egypt reports virus in domestic poultry in 9 districts.

Feb 20: New birdflu outbreak in birds in Malaysia. (Malaysia was declared "disease free" by the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) a year ago.)

Feb 21: H5N1 found in birds in Hungary.

Feb 22: First cases in domestic poultry reported in EU, in Austria.
European Commission authorizes vaccination of poultry in the Netherlands and France.
Indonesia reports 20th human death.
Romania reports highly pathogenic variant of H5N1 in pigeon.

Feb 23: Slovakia confirm H5N1 in wild birds, becomes 8th EU state with H5N1 reported in birds.

Feb 24: New human case in Iraq, suspected.
