Measles kills four and affect 91 children in Unity state

January 18, 2011 (BENTIU) ? A breakout of measles in Unity state has affected 95 people, killing four of them according to health officials. The four killed where from Mayom county, which had further cases 79 affected. Four cases each have been reported in Leer, Mayiandit and Rubkotna counties.
The director general of the state ministry of health, Dr Manong Thot Teny said that the spread of the disease had been caused by returnee children from north Sudan who had not been vaccinated before they arrived in the state.
Thirty Two Cases Of Measles Reported In Lakes State
25 November 2011?(Rumbek) ?At least thirty cases of measles have been reported in Lakes State with the first case in Awac Village in Rumbek East.
The Director General in the Ministry of Health in the State says that the county that is most affected is Rumbek East.
Dr. Achut Acut spoke to SRS on Thursday in Rumbek.
[Dr. Achut Acut] ?We had an outbreak or you may correctly say cases of measles coming up in some of our counties in Lakes State. The most affected county is Rumbek East County in a place called Billing, in which the first case was reported from a village called Awac on the 15th of October 2011. Second case came from Maborduong on 22nd of the same month the total now according to research done is thirty two cases. Mostly affected are children under five. They don?t have any history of vaccination. None of them is vaccinated for antigen.?
