بدأت وزارة الثروة الحيوانية والسمكية بحكومة جنوب السودان حملة لفحص الدواجن في مدينة جوبا لضمان خلو من فيروس انفلونزا الطيور. وقال المدير العام لإدارة الدواجن الدكتور أكول ملوال لمرايا أف ام إن الحملة، التي ستستمر لستة أيام، تتضمن فحص عينات دم الدواجن من أماكن تربيتها لضمان عدم تفشي المرض مرة أخرى عقب ظهور حالات منه بجوبا عام 2006، مشيرا إلى عدم وجود أي حالات للمرض في المدينة في الوقت الحالي.​
