KUNINGAN (Pos Kota) - As many as 24 provinces in Indonesia are still vulnerable to rabies. Of these areas during 2008 found more than 3,000 cases of rabid dog bites, which killed 14 people with them.
"Rabies can not be taken lightly, because the death rate 100 percent," said Director General of Communicable Diseases Eradication and Environmental Health (P2MPL) MOH Tjandra Yoga Aditama, Monday (26/10).

Because of the high death rate, the WHO set up Tjandra rabies as a second group of diseases that serious attention after the bird flu and swine flu. The number of cases is also quite high. In Asia, at least more than 3,000 people affected by rabies each year in which every minute one person dies.
Given the deadly nature of the virus, Tjandra requested that those who had been bitten by dogs should be wary. Disease incubation period can be up to 2 years since being bitten by a dog.
As for some of the symptoms to look out for include people with fear of water, fear of wind and fear of light and fear of loud noise. There is pain on the dog bites, monkey or cat. Usually at such a stage, the patient is difficult to be saved.:tiphat:
