State Receives Shipment Of Swine Flu Vaccine

Last Update: 2:30 pm

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) ?

Shipments of swine flu vaccine are continuing to reach Kentucky, allowing health officials to start scheduling public flu clinics in some areas.

The Lake Cumberland District Health Department in south-central Kentucky has scheduled flu clinics to administer doses of the nasal spray vaccine. Flu clinics in that area are scheduled to be open this Saturday in Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, McCreary, Russell, Taylor and Wayne counties.

Health workers are given top priority for the vaccine at the outset, until more shipments arrive.

In Lexington, health officials said Tuesday that the local health department has received its first delivery of the swine flu vaccine.

State health officials have reported five swine flu deaths in Kentucky.
