Stanford MBA student dies in Maine after falling ill on trip to Africa

Roanak Desai, a 31-year-old Stanford Graduate School of Business student, died Saturday after falling ill on a trip to Africa and the Middle East, according to the university.
Desai died of complications from a severe malaria infection in a Maine hospital, surrounded by family and friends, the business school said in a statement. He became ill while on the trip last week and on his return flight to New York on March 30 became so sick that the plane made an emergency landing in Maine so he could be taken to a hospital.
