St. Lucia: No visitors from Ebola-stricken nations

KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) ? The prime minister of the Caribbean island of St. Lucia has given an order to bar entry to anyone coming from three West African nations struggling with Ebola epidemics.

Prime Minister Kenny Anthony announced Wednesday that visitors from Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone may not enter St. Lucia until further notice.

Anthony says the travel ban is necessary because St. Lucia is a poor, small country that does not have the capacity "to manage any crisis that lands on our doorstep."

He says passengers from another African nation, Nigeria, will be required to present a "recent medical certificate" clearing them of the virus. Specifics of how this might work were not immediately provided.

Good. They can't afford this mess and they're smart enough to realize it.

I agree.. and why is America ( and us here) resisting a travel ban by saying it will hinder aid? All they have to do is allow flights out but not back in.
Load up with supplies and 2 flight teams. Go over there, unload, swap pilots, and fly home. the spare flight team resting. What is so hard about that?

Because some government employees need to fly commercial to pretend they are civilian travelers?

I imagine your people have some 'aid' and 'business' travel going on like that, too, Ming. ;)
