SSA denies the rise in deaths due to H1N1
Monday, 07 of 2009 of Septiembre
According to reports from dependence, from 1 to 5 September there were 14 more deaths, bringing the number rose to 207 deaths
MEXICO CITY .- The Health Secretary Jose Angel Cordova, attributed the increase in the number of deaths reported so far in September to a gap between the analysis of the cause of death among probable cases and publication.
According to reports from dependence, from 1 to 5 September there were 14 more deaths, bringing the number rose to 207 deaths.
However, the federal official said the latest confirmed death was registered on August 20.
"So far we have 22 thousand 763 cases, there has been a substantial increase even when classes resumed. What has puzzled sometimes we are the numbers of deaths.
Deaths have so far 207, but at the time where we had a little more deaths were increased between 14 and 27 July.
"What happens is that all these cases they die, there is a committee and must receive the file, review the clinical case and see if it really was due to influenza A H1N1, there are several experts, respiratory diseases, from infectious diseases, then that is why there is a gap, say, but as they are confirmed cases of death, the next day we're making of their knowledge.
"The latest death was confirmed that we Aug. 20, then those are the figures and in truth I believe that Mexico is a country that has had less underreporting," he argued in defending the record of the epidemic.
After observing the implementation of the National Examination applicants to medical residencies, Annan said that on instructions from the World Health Organization, Mexico no longer perform a sampling of all suspected cases of influenza A H1N1, as it was getting so far but only 30% of them.
He argued that the medical diagnosis has reached an almost infallible efficacy in outbreaks of influenza A H1N1.
"Since it was an indication of the World Health Organization, sampling will be done as is being done everywhere in the U.S., France, China, in short, sentinel sites, in Mexico we will have more 250 sentinel sites, which are in general hospitals.
"The site will be sampled 30% of suspect cases, not 100%, this is a statement of WHO, and there is the possibility that the physician treating a suspected case, it is perfectly valid.
But not everyone is going to be sampled, "he said at a news conference.
However, he assured that it will continue to examine all cases that are hospitalized with a conventional medical diagnosis to determine the presumption of this strain of influenza virus.
"Those who do are going to sample all are those who are hospitalized with a probable diagnosis of influenza A H1N1. These are the guidelines that WHO has determined that they are taking all countries, and are guidelines that will allow, so least until we have the next wave of influenza, "said Cordova Villalobos.
