Over 5000 dengue cases and two dengue-related deaths have been reported in Sri Lanka over the month of January. The National Dengue Control Unit reports that 5459 dengue cases have been recorded and it has identified 16 high-risk dengue zones across the country. COLOMBO (News 1st) - Sabaragamuwa Provincial Health Services Director Dr. Kapila Kannangara says that the number of health workers infected with dengue at the Ratnapura Teaching Hospital has risen to 166.
He said that hospital operations have been disrupted as a result.

COLOMBO (News 1st): The National Dengue Control Unit has identified 38 Medical Officer of Health (MOH) areas as high-risk zones for the spread of dengue fever.
Director of the Unit, Dr. Sudath Samaraweera, stated that more than 2,200 dengue cases have already been reported in the month of May alone.
He further revealed that 47% of these cases are from the Western Province.
