July 01, Colombo: Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 cases rose to 2054 today with 7 more persons testing positive for the coronavirus, the Health Ministry said.

According to the Health Promotion Bureau report, as of 10 pm Wednesday, 295 patients are receiving treatment at hospitals. Another 55 Individuals are currently under investigations in hospitals.

Eleven patients have died while 1,748 patients including the Chinese tourist, who was the first COVID-19 case detected in the country in January, have fully recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

The detection of a new COVID-19 cluster of over 250 cases has set alarm bells among the health authorities here as they warned public not to drop guard against the possible community spread by sticking to health guidelines. Officials on Friday said 252 COVID-19 positive cases were found at the drug rehabilitation centre at Kandakadu in the north central region of Polonnaruwa.
