No COVID-19 patient reported from Sri Lanka during the 24 hours ended this morning and three patients fully cured and left National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID). The total COVID-19 patients reported from Sri Lanka by now is 102, Health Ministry spokesman said....

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka has locked down a village South of the capital Colombo after a confirmed Coronavirus patient was found who had contacts with at least 26 persons, while nationwide curfews continue to combat the spread of Covid-19.

Sri Lanka recorded the second day with no new infections on March 27, since Sri Lanka’s Second Wave infections started with infections from Italy.

Sri Lanka has on March 27 confirmed 3 cases by mid-day taking the total to 109. The patients under observation dropped to 199 from and 238. Nine patietns including a Wave I patient from Wuhan had recovered up to March 28 mid-day.

Surgical Lockdown

Sri Lanka has been aggressively quarantining arrivals, chasing down contacts and putting the country under curfew to contain the virus.

“In the Bandaragama divisional secretary area, in the village of Atalugama we found that Coranvirus case had close contacts with over 26 percents,” Sri Lanka’ Army Commander Shavendra Silva who heads an anti-Coronavirus task force in the island in a recorded video.

“These 26 persons have been quarantined in a centre in the same area.

“Under the advice of health authorities others are asked to be in self-quarantine.”

The patient, a 60-year old resident of Marawila, had died while receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the IDH Hospital in Angoda...

(MENAFN - Colombo Gazette) The number of patients confirmed to have contracted the coronavirus in Sri Lanka rose to 120 today.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 3 new cases were reported today and have been admitted to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH) in Angoda.

The Unit further revealed 108 patients, among the confirmed cases, have been reported as active cases.

A total of 117 patients are receiving treatment at hospitals across the country on suspicion of having contracted the virus...

COLOMBO (News1st): A patient tested positive for COVID – 19 has recuperated, health authorities said Friday, raising the total number of recovered cases in the country to 22.

Apr 03, Colombo: The number of total confirmed COVID-19 coronavirus cases in Sri Lanka has risen to 159 according to the Health Promotion Bureau report released at 10 pm today.

Health authorities have confirmed that eight new Coronavirus patients have been identified in the last 24 hours bringing the total active patients receiving treatment at hospitals to 131 while 250 individuals are hospitalized.

Four patients have died and 24 patients including the Chinese tourist, who was the first COVID-19 case detected in the country in January and discharged earlier this month, have fully recovered and been discharged from hospitals

Apr 04, Colombo: The number of total confirmed COVID-19 coronavirus cases in Sri Lanka has risen to 162 according to the Epidemiology Unit report released at 10 pm today.

Health authorities have confirmed that four new Coronavirus patients have been identified by the end of the day today bringing the total of new cases to 7 while 136 active patients are receiving treatment at hospital and 273 individuals are hospitalized.

Five patients have died and 27 patients including the Chinese tourist, who was the first COVID-19 case detected in the country in January and discharged earlier this month, have fully recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

One more patient has tested positive for coronavirus, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 189 as of 6.00 p.m. today (8).
Meanwhile two COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged from hospital. This bring the total number of patients who have recovered to 44.
According to the Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health, 138 patients are currently under medical care while over 220 suspected patients under observations at selected hospitals.
Sri Lanka’s 7th coronavirus death was confirmed earlier today by the ministry.

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka has confirmed 197 Coronavirus by late night on April 10, the Health Ministry said after several people in a cluster relating to a burglar was found be infected with Covid-19.

Earlier in the week a person who allegedly tried to burgle a house in Sri Lanka’s Ja-Ela area was caught by residents and beaten and the person ended up in Ragama hospital, media reports said.

Sri Lanka’s Navy and the Police Special Task Force then cordoned and searched area to find his contacts.

“This person did not have a telephone so it was difficult to find his associates,” Sri Lanka’s Army Commander Shavendra Silva told Derana TV, a privately run television Channel.

His associates had been found and because they were running around during home isolation 28 were taken to a quarantine centre in Oluvil by the Navy.

Of them 05 were found to be infected.

The wife of the index case was also confirmed to have the Covid-19.

The area in Ja-Ela remains under close watch with movements restricted he said.

Sri Lanka has been aggressively chasing contacts of infected persons and kept down community transmission.

The Ja-Ela area which is in Sri Lanka’ Western Province is under indefinite curfew as a designated high risk area.
