Possible case of Ebola outbreak in M?laga, Spain

The Regional Hospital M?laga has commenced a protocol against Ebola after a suspected case, as reported by DIARIOSUR.

The patient, a 40-year-old Nigerian who had recently been in the country, have been having high fever since admission. The patient has been kept in protective isolation unit until a result is confirmed whether he has the Ebola virus or not. He is presently isolated in the infections unit at the 5th floor of the Carlos Haya Hospital.

According to report, the man lives in Antequera and is married to a Spanish with two kids. He travels around the world as a Nigerian sales representative. He was presented at the Regional Hospital in M?laga in the early morning of today, where he remained isolated in a room designed for this purpose. The room is staffed by a team of professionals who are fully equipped.

Samples to determine if the patient has Ebola virus was forwarded to the national reference laboratory, the Institute of National Center for Microbiology Carlos III. The patient will remain under surveillance until the result is out. Aside high fever, the patient did not show any other symptoms of Ebola, like nausea, vomiting or bleeding. Result is being expected within 24 hours.
