OVIEDO, 18 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) --
Cabue?es Hospital blamed for the deaths of the father of Beatriz Rico, Esteban Juarros, the new Influenza A virus, said Wednesday the family through a letter sent to Europa Press.
Family members are "surprised". "Until November 17, nobody considered the possibility and told us that he had done on such evidence of influenza," recalling that point was initially attributed the death to the extent of urinary tract infection.
The brother of actress Asturias, Miguel Angel Juarros Rico, said in the letter on Tuesday at 15.00 met with several hospital officials that she was shown a copy of the study of virus in which "reflected that the cause of death was influenza A ".
It also notes that he was told that the incubation period of influenza A is three to five days, so they raised Juarros Michelangelo "the possibility that the collapse could have been in the hospital." "I was told that influenza patients admitted to the center are isolated and would be very difficult," he adds.
However, the brother of Beatriz Rico wondered why during the first admission "is not detected influenza A, and if they had suspicions that this was the cause of the fever," why they said nothing to the family up to five days after death. "
It also questioned why they were not told that he had performed the test of influenza A, and was surprised, as the whole family, that the disease was not appointed at any time "prior to first hour pm on Tuesday.
In addition, influences that "if you suspect that a patient suffering from influenza A" why "is made to share a room with another patient and be in direct contact with other people without any protection", in relation to the Esteban Juarros shared room with other patients, in which he visited the family and who died last November 12.
Another issue that arises is the son of the late "why the doctor the day of his death stated that he had been provoked by an extension of urinary tract infection for which he had discharged two days before."
Therefore, the family believes that "the general protocol to follow in such cases, strictly carried out by the hospital, in view of events is not correct."
Juarros Esteban's son recalled how his father, 70 years old, was admitted on 5 November in Gij?n Cabue?es Hospital. The initial diagnosis was a urinary tract infection, he notes.
On Tuesday 10 November he was discharged with medical infection "controlled" by recommending antibiotics. However, says the family, "once at home she started having fever symptoms. On the morning of Thursday 12 Esteban Juarros found him badly and began to climb the fever and was admitted "in a coma around 11.30 hours," says his son.
Around 19:00 I went to the ward from the emergency department, and 22.40 pm on Thursday, died in his room, he recalls his family.
The Office of Justice of the Principality of Asturias party has decided to investigate the causes of death, which are also being investigated by the Patient Advocate.
