AFFECTED POPULATION DESCRIPTION
The cow, born on 23/10/2000, was euthanized on the farm with clinical signs of disease not related to BSE. The sample entered the LCV register on 31/01/2023, whose sender was the laboratory of production and animal health of Galicia, which recorded with the registration entry number 2023/000391-A and under the demand for confirmation of BSE. The national reference laboratory carried out the confirmation tests, authorized according to EU regulation 1148/2014. Subsequently, BSE strain discrimination tests were performed, which confirmed the presence of atypical BSE (type H strain). The sample was taken in the framework of national transmissible spongiform encephalopathies surveillance program (sampling of dead or not slaughtered for human consumption animals over 48 months of age).
