93.0% was due to close contact in the context of a sexual relationship and 7.0% due to close contact not
sexual. Two cases are associated with occupational exposure in the health field. In the 2,458 cases
remaining, the information is pending, not specified or not available.

In relation to attendance at mass events, of the 5,826 cases with information on this variable,
1,007 attended an event on the dates prior to the onset of symptoms.

Current situation in Spain.

In Spain, according to data from the National Epidemiological Surveillance Network (RENAVE), as of December 27,
a total of 7,498 confirmed cases of MPX have been reported. The reported cases come from 17
Autonomous Communities see Table 1. Of the cases reported in SiViES, a total of 7,332 are men and 166
they are women. Age ranges from 7 months to 88 years, with a median age of 37 years (range
interquartile: 31-44 years).
