A suspected Viral Hemorrhagic Fever outbreak has been reported in Lotimor, Kapoeta East County, Eastern Equatoria State with three suspected cases notified to the Public Health Emergency Operations Centre.

In response, Ministry of Health - Republic of South Sudan, with support from WHO - Republic of South Sudan, has rapidly deployed a high-level verification team to investigate and contain the situation. The team comprises technical experts from Ministry of Health - Republic of South Sudan, the National Public Health Institute, and World Health Organization (WHO).

Thanks to EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid, for enabling timely logistics and essential supplies for this high-priority response.

Strong surveillance, swift action and strong coordination remain key to protecting communities and preventing spread of diseases.

Suspected Hemorrhagic Fever Patients Discharged Kapoeta East

Africa-Press – South-Sudan. Health authorities in Juba say suspected cases of hemorrhagic fever in Kapoeta East County are in stable condition and have been discharged from health facilities.

The Executive Director of the National Public Health Institute, Kediende Chong, told Eye Radio that the patients are recovering and no longer showing symptoms consistent with the disease.

“The two suspected cases are stable. Symptoms have subsided. They are now discharged and within their family,” Kediende said.

He said laboratory tests are still being conducted to determine the exact illness.
