Three people have died of a mysterious haemorrhagic fever in South Sudan’s Raja county of Western Bhar-el-Ghazal State, raising fears of an outbreak of Ebola.

On Thursday evening, South Sudan’s Ministry of Health said it is investigating the death of three people who had presented suspected symptoms of bleeding and fever and indicated that some 127 similar cases had been recorded since last week.

South Sudan: Ebola, suspected cases reported in the state of Bahr El-Ghazal negative

Juba, 12 Oct 12:09 - (Nova Agency)- South Sudan authorities said suspected Ebola cases in the northwestern state of Bahr El-Ghazal were negative. The Juba health ministry said the tests were carried out after local authorities last week sounded an alarm after three people died from an unknown disease in the Timssa area, near the border with the Central African Republic. The cause of the deaths, however, remains unknown as the bodies were buried before a medical team from the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO) arrived in the area.
