The occurrence of highly pathogenic AI in poultry farms is increasing rapidly.
According to the Central Accident Response Headquarters for highly pathogenic avian influenza, Boryeong native chicken (34th), Jincheon broiler duck (35th), Pyeongtaek laying hens (36th), Jeongeup broiler (37th), Jincheon bell duck (38th), Yesan quail ( 39th) H5N1 type highly pathogenic AI was confirmed in a farmhouse.
On February 7 and 8, only 6 farms were added.
All of these were reported by farmers who confirmed suspicious symptoms such as increased mortality and decreased egg production. As a result of close examination, it was confirmed as H5N1 highly pathogenic AI.
In February, 11 highly pathogenic AI cases occurred in poultry farms. It has already surpassed the number of cases in January (9 cases).
Large-scale farms such as Pyeongtaek Laying Chicken Farm (117,000 heads), Yesan quail farm (250,000 animals), and preventive slaughter farms near Yesan quail farm (500,000 heads) continued, and the scale of culling damage increased.
If the Asan Laying Chicken Farm (290,000 birds) in South Chungcheong Province, which received a suspicious report on the 9th, is confirmed as highly pathogenic, the cumulative damage is expected to approach 7 million.
“It is a very dangerous situation in which highly pathogenic AI is continuously generated in poultry farms of various livestock breeds and wild birds in various regions,” the ministry said.
The risk of sporadic outbreaks is expected to continue for the time being as the detection of highly pathogenic AI in wild birds continues nationwide only after January 20, including Busan, Anseong/Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do, Cheorwon, Gangwon, and Gimhae, Gyeongnam.
