Hospitals for MERS Treatment: care for confirmed cases in negative pressure rooms.
▶Hospitals for Patients Exposed to MERS: care for suspected patients in single rooms with temporary negative pressure facilities while the patients are being transferred and tested.
▶National Safe Hospitals(Gukmin Anshim Hospital): care for ordinary patients and patients with respiratory diseases while keeping them safe from MERS infections.
The National Safe Hospital (Gukmin Anshim Hospital) Program has been adopted to effectively control MERS infections within hospitals by providing care for patients with respiratory diseases in secured areas. This program is expected to reduce the public fear of contracting MERS-CoV and minimize the transmission of the virus in case of another outbreak.
87 hospitals, including 21 higher-grade general hospitals will begin operating under the name of ?National Safe Hospitals? as early as June 15, once they secure isolated areas and other necessary facilities.
A patient with respiratory diseases who uses a National Safe Hospital will consult physicians in secured areas separate from outpatient or emergency rooms. In case of hospitalization, he or she will not share a room with other patients (1 room per patient regardless of the number of beds).
A patient with pneumonia cannot enter an intensive care unit without taking a MERS test
