South Dakota reports 5 more deaths, total now 9

The South Dakota Department of Health reports five new H1N1 flu-related deaths in the state, bringing the total to nine. Influenza activity remains widespread in South Dakota.

There are 421 new confirmed H1N1 cases and 73 people have been hospitalized because of the flu. Seventy-three percent of confirmed cases are in children 18 years old and younger and patients in that age group also make up 52 percent of the hospitalizations.
