The South Dakota Department of Health has confirmed the first case of measles in the state for 2025 in a Meade County resident, according to a press release.
The SDDOH said a Meade County adult developed the disease after international travel.
Community members may have been exposed to measles if they were at the following locations at the listed times. If so, SDDOH asks that you monitor for measles symptoms for 21 days.

RAPID CITY, SD — The South Dakota Department of Health is confirming the state’s second case of the measles this year.
The patient is from Rapid City. Health officials say people at the local Sam’s Club could have been exposed on June 1st. People also may have been exposed at the Dakota Premiere Medical Clinic on Mount Rushmore Road on June 2nd. There’s been a nationwide outbreak of the virus.

HOT SPRINGS, S.D. (KOTA) - The South Dakota Department of Health warns people of potential measles exposure at 2 businesses on June 19th in Hot Springs.
Someone from out of state with a confirmed measles infection had reportedly visited “Two Cows Creamery” on North River Street from noon until 7 pm.
Then the person stopped by “Wandering Bison Coffee” on N. Chicago Street on June 19th, 20th, and 21st from 8:30 am until 11:30 am each day...
