Coyotes make a comeback as mange outbreak fades

Clark Blake shot eight coyotes last week on and near his ranch in southwest Harding County.

And he could have shot a lot more, if he'd had more time to hunt.
"They're not hard to find," said Blake, a sheep rancher near Camp Crook known for his understatement and aerial hunting skills.

Those skills are in increasingly high demand these days as coyotes rebound from a mange outbreak that lasted for several years, limiting their population on West River rangeland.
